The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention asks that you check your onions after a batch was linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened hundreds across the country, including more than 150 in Texas.

Red, white and yellow onions without a sticker or packaging should be thrown away, the CDC said. The contaminated onions were imported from Chihuahua, Mexico and distributed by Idaho-based ProSource Inc. to grocery stores and restaurants in 37 states.

H-E-B said on Twitter its onions were not affected.

ProSource Inc. agreed to voluntarily recall onions imported from Chihuahua between July 1 and Aug. 27, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

"We are issuing this update early in our investigation as part of our continued commitment to transparency and early communication," said Frank Yiannas, FDA deputy commissioner for food policy and response, in a statement posted online Wednesday.
